Windy and wet, with severe weather threat tonight

There is now a Slight Risk for severe weather for Chattanooga and areas west for mainly strong winds of 50-60 miles per hour. While wind gusts will be the main threat, there is also a low-end chance of a tornado too. Wind will blow predominantly from the east at 8 to 13 miles per hour, with a shift to the south, late, to those who have that warm front pass north of you. However, there will still be a significant threat for severe storms west of I-65 through midnight. You can expect to hear thunder Tuesday night through very early Wednesday morning. Timing with the storm chances in DFW is 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. Highs ahead of the approaching front will be in the 70s and low 80s. The cooler, drier air that sweeps in Wednesday will make it tough for most of the Valley to reach past the 50s for highs!

The state's southeast will see morning temperatures in the upper 30s and low 40s, according to the latest advisory. That means numerous severe storms are possible. Some WAFB communities could still be dealing with lingering backside showers behind the front during the morning, but we expect the rain and clouds to be out of the area by midday with sunshine and blue skies, with picture flawless weather for Wednesday afternoon.
