Trump Planning to Skip White House Correspondents' Dinner Again

Trump's Press Secretary and the most recognisable face in the administration after Trump - will reportedly take his place at the head table, and the WHCA - that's White House Correspondents' Association - have said that the White House is encouraging its senior members to attend the event, even if Trump won't be there.

Talev, a correspondent for Bloomberg, said White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders would represent the Trump administration at the April 28 dinner. "The April 28 dinner celebrates award-winning reporting, scholarship winners and the vital role of the First Amendment and the free press in American democracy".

Mr Trump had said he "probably won't do it" in an interview on the Bernie and Sid radio show on 77 WABC Radio.

This year, the dinner will honor Maggie Haberman of The New York Times, who Trump called "a Hillary flunky" who didn't know anything about him.

President of the White House Correspondents' Association, Margaret Talev, a correspondent for Bloomberg made the announcement on Friday.

The event is typically a cozy mix of journalists and politicians, but during the first year of the Trump administration, it turned into an event for press freedoms.
