Pep: Man City Didn't Fail In Champions League

Pep: Man City Didn't Fail In Champions League

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has ruled Sergio Aguero out of the trip to Wembley ahead of their Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

Guardiola is facing a selection headache for the Tottenham game, with the Spaniard saying he has 14 available players "plus the kids".

"What I say to the players is, and they show you every day, in every game that it's not done because if it was done they wouldn't play the way they play".

"Of course it can happen, I assure you", Guardiola said about City's prospects of throwing away the title.

"But it's in our hands, we don't depend on anyone else, and that's a good advantage".

Were City to win one, draw two and lose three, United could still theoretically win the Premier League with a ideal run-in and enough firepower to overturn a 28-goal deficit.

United inflicted just the second League defeat of the season on City by winning the Manchester derby last week with that sensational 3-2 win at the Etihad, and in the process stopped City being confirmed as Champions.

Durant to decline option, re-sign with Warriors

Trump warning: 'Get ready' for United States missile strike on Syria
Western leaders, including the U.S., France, and the United Kingdom , are coordinating on how to respond to the attack. It's in response to the Syrian Air Force's latest alleged chemical attack, which left dozens dead over the weekend.

'We can not forget he was one month injured. Football is full of emotions, but what we have to try to do is focus and win our games against Tottenham, Swansea and after that the other ones. He made a huge effort because after the action from Ashley Young against United [a second half tackle] with the problem with his knee, he could not train. "We have problems - John Stones is not ready [thigh], Fernandinho is suspended, Benjamin Mendy is out [knee]". When I heard pundits and fans in November they said it's all done, it's impossible for City to drop points.

They will represent a huge challenge for City tomorrow, and the former Barcelona boss knows that only too well. So if we lose, we're going to do it in a similar way to the way we played against United and Liverpool.

"My feeling is now that United will win a lot of points because they are in a good shape and have top players".

Meanwhile, Liverpool and Tottenham in third and fourth both lag 17 points behind with a far inferior goal difference to City. "It is going to be a hard game for us".

"We are able to win the two games [we need to confirm the title] and we will do that. Hopefully he will be ready for last games and World Cup", Guardiola said of the Argentine, who was injured in a tackle by United's Ashley Young that could have resulted in a penalty.

But Guardiola wants to see his team get back to where they were before their dip in form with three successive defeats in the last week. Now their task is to register five points from the remaining six games.
