YouTube faces lawsuit after allegedly refusing to hire white or Asian males

A former, white Google employee filed a lawsuit against the company, alleging the tech giant stopped hiring white and Asian men for certain technical positions. Arne Wilberg - who spent nine years working at Google - filed a discrimination suit in January, and The Wall Street Journal reported its existence today.

About two months ago, former Google engineer James Damore made headlines after filing a lawsuit against the huge tech company for allegedly discriminating against white male conservatives.

A Google spokeswoman reportedly said the company will vigorously defend itself against the lawsuit. "At the same time, we unapologetically try to find a diverse pool of qualified candidates for open roles, as this helps us hire the best people, improve our culture, and build better products", the company said, in a statement. When Lee filed a complaint with H.R.at the company's urging, she said that Google declined to investigate. Last year, Google engineer James Damore was sacked because he wrote a memo that was widely circulated amongst employees that conservative white men were "ostracized" in favor of minorities and women. The lawsuit alleges that sometime in mid-2017 managers were instructed to stop tracking the number of employees they hired from minority groups and told them to drop all hiring bias based on diversity quotas.

In April 2017, Google's "technology staffing management team" was told to cancel job interviews for software engineers with five or fewer years of experience who were not female, black or Latino, and to "purge entirely any applications by non-diverse employees from the hiring pipeline", according to the suit. It's also alleged that management deleted emails and other digital records of diversity requirements a year ago. "Beginning of Q3--we hire for 2018-all diverse", a company memo told recruiters previous year, according to Wilberg.

Snapchat New Update Brings GIF stickers and Some Design Changes
Following the redesign's United States debut, more than 30 Change.org petitions were launched in a single day protesting it. The new GIF stickers update are now available via Giphy .

Recruiters at YouTube tracked the hiring of underrepresented minorities with a "diversity tracker".

Ever since Google released its first transparency report in 2014, the company's efforts to diversify its overwhelmingly male, white, and Asian workforce have been criticized as too little and too late for a company founded in 1998.

"However, numerous claims made in Wilberg's lawsuit seem to corroborate Breitbart News" previous reporting.
