Jets Trade Four Draft Picks to Colts, Move up to No. 3

Jets Trade Four Draft Picks to Colts, Move up to No. 3

The move gives Indianapolis four picks in the top 50 this year - the team retains its own second-round pick at No. 36 overall - and seven in the first two rounds over the next two drafts. By moving up to three, general manager Mike Maccagnan parted ways with No. 6, as well as No. 37 and 49, both of the team's second round picks. Indianapolis will now pick sixth, the Jets will pick third and the Colts will receive three second round picks. It also adds some intrigue with the Giants and Jets picking back-to-back at No. 2 and No. 3. They signed backup defensive end Denico Autry from Oakland to a three-year deal and already have lost two other key players: receiver Donte Moncrief, an occasional starter, and emerging cornerback Rashaan Melvin.

Now they will be in position to draft one of the top quarterback prospects of the draft. By doing this, the Jets rule out any potential trade up ahead of them, making them a near lock to grab a quarterback at No. 3.

It seemed that the Browns may be able to draft Barkley, then have the full pool of QBs to choose from three spots later.

The Jets paid a stiff price - after re-signing Josh McCown and landing Teddy Bridgewater as a free agent. After New York lost out on the Kirk Cousins sweepstakes, the Jets are now primed to draft the quarterback of the future with the third overall pick.

Wildcat Wearhouse raises funds for fallen Pikeville officer's family
The Pikeville Police Department said one of their officers has died after he was shot and killed in the line of duty . Pikeville Police Officer Scotty Hamilton , a 12-year veteran, was killed in the line of duty Tuesday night.

The Colts have been trying to figure out what they want to do in the upcoming draft. The early sense is that the Jets don't rate Baker Mayfield in that upper-echelon category. Now, the ball is in New York's court. They didn't trade down super far, and got extra picks both this year and next year.

Trading up for the Indianapolis Colts' pick could turn out to be a wise move by the New York Jets. How he would fare behind the New York Jets' offensive line remains to be seen.

The Giants could be a threat to draft Darnold, however, I think a quarterback like Josh Rosen would fit their needs better.
