Allscripts Launches EHR-Integrated Lyft Transportation Service

Allscripts Launches EHR-Integrated Lyft Transportation Service

Now, Lyft has followed suit, announcing a partnership with Allscripts that integrates the ride-hailing company's API with the Sunrise EHR system.

The move marks a continuing evolution of a service delivery model Lyft previously piloted with Blue Cross Blue Shield.

The ride cost for the patients will be covered by the health care providers. With it, businesses can schedule rides for individuals.

In the previous year alone, 3.6 million people in the United States missed healthcare appointments.

Lyft and Allscripts are partnering to make it easier for hospitals and doctors' offices to schedule rides for patients who need them. Like the new Uber Health service, patients who don't have a smartphone can still catch a ride that the health facilities arrange and set up on their behalf.

"It's very much the next extension of our entrance into health care", said Lyft's Chief Business Officer David Baga.

NJ weather calls for more rain; damp weekend continues

Over 100 healthcare organizations in the U.S, including hospitals, clinics, rehab centers, senior care facilities, home care centers, and physical therapy centers are already using Uber Health as a part of the beta program, including Adams Clinical, Blood Centers of the Pacific, Georgetown Home Care, LifeBridge Health, MedStar Health, Manhattan Women's Health, NYU Perlmutter Cancer Center, Pro Staff Physical Therapy, ProActive Work Health Services, Project Open Hand, Renown Health, Thundermist Health Center and Yale New Haven Health.

What we don't know yet, though, is whether or not Uber Health will be able to offer rides to those persons with disabilities - whether something like the Uber XXL now offered for larger groups, or any other specific types of vehicles, will be available to those using a wheelchair, etc.

Uber Health can be accessed either as an online dashboard or as an application programming interface (API) that software developers can integrate into their own healthcare systems. "We have been working hard to develop, implement, and customize numerous safeguards", says Uber Health's general manager. "We're even going to be introducing the option for riders to receive a call with trip details to their mobile phone or landline instead", Weber elaborates. The platform pushes an SMS alert to passengers about the scheduled ride and the business provider typically covers the cost.

Although there was little to no detailed information regarding billing during the announcement, organizations would be able to easily monitor what they were spending on transportation as well as see monthly billing statements, scheduling and appointments.
