Republican Report on Clinton Emails Raises Questions About FBI Procedure

Republican Report on Clinton Emails Raises Questions About FBI Procedure

The Associated Press reports the new texts were among 50,000 sent between Page and Strzok, along with messages criticizing Trump during the campaign as an "idiot".

Johnson's committee took particular aim at one September 2, 2016, exchange in which Page - on the day the FBI released documents about the then-closed Clinton email investigation - told Strzok that President Barack Obama "wants to know everything we are doing".

Because the FBI officially wrapped up its investigation of Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server as secretary of state without bringing charges in July 2016, it's not clear to what "everything" Page was referring.

That information, Levin concluded, still raises the question of how much the previous president knew about the FBI's investigation and when he knew it.

In his passion against Virginians who voted against then FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe's wife, Jill McCabe for a state Senate seat, Strzok couldn't even get the plural of hillybilly right, calling them "ignorant hillbillys" (sic).

The texts, part of an inspector general investigation into the handling of the Hillary Clinton email probe, most notably include derogatory messages about Trump and resulted in FBI agent Peter Strzok's reassignment from Mueller's team.

"Although sometimes cryptic and disjointed due to their nature, these text messages raise several questions about the FBI and its investigation of classified information on Secretary Clinton's private email server", the report read.

Federal Bureau of Investigation warns Facebook users to not share video of child pornography
Law enforcement agencies from Alabama to France have gotten complaints as the video continues to spread, AL.com reported . If you find the video in your Messenger account, you should notify Facebook immediately and delete the message.

But three in four Democrats said they believed a competing narrative that "members of the Republican Party and the White House are working to delegitimize the FBI and DOJ in the investigation of Russian tampering in the 2016 presidential election". The special counsel removed Strzok when he learned of their communications; Page had left the Mueller team two weeks earlier for what officials said were unrelated reasons.

A lawyer for Strzok declined to comment, and a lawyer for Page could not be reached.

There is no denying that the texts show the two Federal Bureau of Investigation officials' absolute disdain for Trump.

In a text exchange between the agents on November 8, 2016, Page wrote, "OMG THIS IS F***ING TERRIFYING" - a reference to Trump's possible victory.

"The time line Sen. ohnson put out makes no sense", CNN correspondent Evan Peretz said on "OutFront" on Wednesday night, adding: "It appears this is yet another one of these text messages that is being misinterpreted". "I can protect our country at many levels, not sure if that helps", Strzok replied to Page. As Judd Legum at Think Progress noted on Wednesday, Comey closed the Clinton email investigation on July 5, 2016 - almost two months before Page's supposedly explosive text.

Some in the Obama camp are saying privately that the agent's message more likely pertained to the investigation into Russian meddling in the election. "Figure I need to brush up on Watergate".
