Government Agencies Are Questioning Apple About Updates Which Slow down Older iPhones

Apple is cooperating with USA government inquiries into its secret slowdown of older iPhones, further complicating its efforts to move past an issue that irked customers whose devices bogged down.

In the statement Apple denied doing anything to "intentionally shorten the life of any Apple product or degrade the user experience to drive customer upgrades".

We have received inquiries from several government agencies, and we're responding to them.Apple's power management function may also be sidestepped by replacing an iPhone's battery if needed. But it resulted in disappointing performance for users, according to CNN.

The government has requested information from the company.

We sought to further enhance the customer experience in December by announcing a significant reduction on replacement batteries for specific iPhones.

Apple is projected to allow users turn off the feature that slows performance in order to preserve battery life, as part of the forthcoming iOS 11.3 update.

UAE jet enables separatists to seize army base in Aden
Yemen's presidency on Monday condemned recent developments in southern Aden province, describing them as "tantamount to a coup". Saudi Arabia has thus far avoided taking sides.

An early 2017 iOS update, iOS 10.2.1, had throttled the performance of the iPhone 7 and older models when the battery would reach a certain level of degradation.

Poor sales have forced Apple to slash its iPhone X production targets.

Apple also faces a slew of lawsuits in the USA and Russian Federation that allege the company aimed to encourage sales of newer models by letting consumers think their slowing handsets needed replacing, rather than just the battery.

In late December, Apple apologized for handling the problem in such a manner and cut the price for batteries replacement in 2018 from $79 to $29 for anyone with an iPhone 6 or a later version. Our goal has always been to create products that our customers love. Apple wants to make their devices more responsive and stable and to reduce customer support related issues. On the other hand, a Reuters report suggests that the land bought by the manufacturer will be used to set up new assembly units for Apple.

After all, iPhone users tend to pay more attention to flashy new features rather than security and reliability. "The consumers, on an average, are probably on their third or fourth iPhone and are willing to pay for the Apple ecosystem which is much stronger in the United States than, for example, in China", said Research Director Neil Shah.

Senator John Thune, a Republican from South Dakota, criticized the company's lack of communication in a letter to Apple CEO Tim Cook.
