Sumpter Twp. couple wanted for murder of girl, 4, arrested in Georgia

Sumpter Twp. couple wanted for murder of girl, 4, arrested in Georgia

Sumpter Township police have released photos of a man and woman they say are wanted in the death of their 4-year-old daughter.

Sumpter Township police investigators have filed multiple charges against Candice Renea Diaz, 24, and Brad Edward Fields, 28, including felony murder, second-degree murder, first-degree child abuse and torture.

A police news release stated that officers and paramedics went to the couple's mobile home on New Year's Day following a 911 call reporting an unresponsive child.

Gabrielle had obvious severe burns about her extremities and was taken to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The Washtenaw County (Mich.) Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide with evidence of multiple traumatic injuries and battered-child syndrome - meaning she suffered multiple injuries, at multiple sites, at multiple ages.

MI police charged Candice Diaz and Brad Fields in the death of Diaz's four-year-old daughter.

North Korea's Kim Signals Olympics Truce, Seeks Talks With Seoul
Chun Yung-woo, a former South Korean national security adviser, said Seoul should have taken more time before answering. He said the Olympics would be "a good chance" to show the greatness of the Korean people, CNN reported.

WDIV reported that the girl's January 1 death was not the first time police have been called to the couple's mobile home. They were caught on I-75 and are being held in the county jail.

The couple's infant daughter is in the custody of Child Protective Services.

Both Diaz and Fields are being charged with murder.

Diaz pleaded guilty to two charges: possession of prescription forms and altering ID marks on a firearm, online court records show. "When Gabby came over, she never had any marks or bruises on her", she said.

Leah Barrett said her family is heartbroken over the loss, but feels better knowing Diaz and Fields have been found and arrested. "She was just an outgoing kid", she said.
