Milan practice crash kills three and injures dozens

Milan practice crash kills three and injures dozens

It derailed at the Pioltello Limito station on the outskirts of Milan, emergency services said.

The investigation is ongoing, but one early hypothesis is that part of the train tracks broke off, sending the wheels of the train's central carriages off the rails.

They also show a team pulling a passenger from a tilted carriage, and trying to get to more people with ladders propped up against the windows.

The train heading from Cremona to Milan derailed between Milan and Venice on Thursday morning, the Trenord railway company told Sputnik.

Train movement into and out of Milan was stopped for quite a long time after rescuers evacuated passengers that were gotten in the autos. It happened just before 07:00 (06:00 GMT).

Images show emergency crews climbing inside crumpled carriages which appear to be spattered with blood.

Lebanon Allows Spielberg's New Film After Long-Time Ban

An investigation was opened nearly immediately after the crash.

Numerous passengers were travelling to work in Italy's economic capital, or were students.

Three helicopters were deployed on the accident site and one helicopter was patrolling the area to immediately bring the injured to the hospital.

Witnesses said the train trembled for a few minutes before the accident.
