Special counsel subpoenas Deutsche Bank on President Trump's finances

Special counsel subpoenas Deutsche Bank on President Trump's finances

Robert Mueller, the special counsel investigating President Donald Trump's campaign's ties to Russian Federation, reportedly subpoenaed Deutsche Bank for data on accounts held by Trump and his family.

In an interview with the New York Times in July, Trump, asked if Mueller's investigation would cross a "red line" if it expanded to look at his family's finances beyond any relationship to Russia, Mr. Trump said, "I would say yes".

The special counsel is investigating whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russians connected with the Kremlin in the lead-up to the 2016 election.

"We have confirmed that the news reports that the Special Counsel had subpoenaed financial records relating to the president are false", he told Reuters in a statement.

Congressional Democrats had been calling on the bank to provide more information on Trump's $300 million in debt, but they were rebuffed-as Deutsche Bank said that sharing client data would be illegal unless they received a formal request to do so. "We have confirmed this with the bank and other sources".

A person close to the matter said Deutsche Bank received the subpoena several weeks ago to provide information on certain money and credit transactions.

"We confirmed that the news reports that the special counsel had subpoenaed financial records related to the president are completely false", Sanders said.

But Kris had ended up losing her temper first. "And a little bit of alcohol", Khloe quipped while sipping from her water glass. He is trying his best to be understanding, but he does question this whole need for her to stay in hiding.

Instead of targeting Trump or his family's records, the subpoenas were aimed at records that pertain to people or organizations affiliated with the president, according to the corrected stories.

News of the Deutsche Bank subpoena may escalate Trump's vitriol toward investigators, which over the past week has included publicly attacking the Justice Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, whose reputation he declared to be " in tatters".

Deutsche Bank has loaned the Trump Organization millions for real-estate ventures.

As Mueller's investigation unfolds, Trump has gone on the offensive. But that's where this story gets interesting: After a judge ordered Trump to repay the money he owed Deutsche Bank, Trump did it using money he borrowed from. And the other line is Deutsche New York's extraordinary lending to Trump.

Trump and Deutsche Bank have not always been on good terms. "And a $170 million loan to finish his hotel in Washington in the old post office tower". U.S. investigators are demanding that it provide information on dealings linked to the Trumps, sources familiar with the matter told Handelsblatt.

Mr Trump sued the bank and other lenders in 2008, demanding $US3 billion ($3.9 billion) in damages, claiming they broke agreements in the construction and financing of a Chicago hotel. Papadopoulos pleaded guilty. Manafort and Gates pleaded not guilty.
