NBC set to revive The Office in 2018

NBC had no official comment to TV Line regarding the reported revival consideration. Would you be interested in an Office revival? Such a move would continue the evolution of the show, which brought in new stars to fill the void after original lead Steve Carell departed.

NBC is in early talks to revive The Office, sources tell Variety.

NBC's The Office itself was a remake of the British The Office, which ran for two series in the United Kingdom before the American remake debuted in 2005. The show - which made stars out of Carell, Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, Craig Robinson, Ellie Kemper and Mindy Kaling, among others - was an awards-season staple, taking home multiple Emmys, Golden Globes and other top prizes. The revival is in the planning phases mainly because the return of NBC's Will & Grace proved to be a hit.

The series came to an end in 2013 after a few final seasons continued along without Carell, but NBC wanted to find more to this story.

NBC entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt has speculated on the possibility of the show's return before, telling Deadline in August that the network execs "often talk about The Office", and that if Greg Daniels, the creator of the U.S. version of the show, was interested, NBC would also be interested.
