Mobile kills unlimited data usage when traveling to Canada and Mexico

Mobile kills unlimited data usage when traveling to Canada and Mexico

That's thanks to the company's Mobile Without Borders perk, which was implemented in 2015.

Starting on November 12th, T-Mobile's Mobile Without Borders plan will be getting a 5GB data cap on LTE speeds when users visit the US's neighbors to the north and south.

The mobile carrier has announced that you can now call anywhere in the US, Canada and Mexico and you will not be charged any extra, the calls will be part of your plan. This is for those using the high-speed data in Canada or Mexico.

It's not shocking that T-Mobile would do this.

'Perfect Imperfections' empowers survivors of breast cancer
Hearts broke across the country when Julia Louis-Dreyfus revealed that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer just last week. Women should know how their breasts normally look and feel and report any changes to a health care provider right away.

The plan is named 'Mobile Without Borders' and it lets the customers be connected even while they travel to Mexico and Canada. The company will also send you an alert when you've used up 80 percent and 100 percent of your LTE data. The move affects all customers on its T-Mobile ONE, Simple Choice North America, or legacy rate plans with roaming. One subscriber can attach unlimited LTE by including One Plus International, however, that is another $25 every month over the base plan. To stop the users from using "beyond the intent of the product" a capping has been applied to the usage of the monthly 4G LTE data. While 5GB is a healthy amount for a short trip, it's still going to change your behavior - you may end up using hotel WiFi when you can instead of relying exclusively on cellular data.

Many probably saw this coming, as customers roaming on LTE in Canada would mean T-Mobile paying its roaming partners here, and for a small number of users exploiting the plan, the free ride looks to have come to an end. Either way, T-Mobile says that less than 1 percent of users who travel to either country use over 5GB in a month.

If you have any more queries on the change and how it will reflect on your mobile usage, you can check the dedicated T-Mobile FAQ page to get all the answers.
