Korean lawmaker says North Korea hacked war plans

Korean lawmaker says North Korea hacked war plans

The United States, meanwhile, staged another show of force meant to deter any North Korean aggression by flying two B-1B supersonic bombers Tuesday night from an air base in the USA territory of Guam to the South for drills with South Korean fighter jets.

The two B-1B bombers were accompanied by two F-15K fighters from the South Korean military after leaving their base in Guam, the South's Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a news release. The South has taken an increasingly aggressive stance toward the North's belligerence amid back-and-forth threats of war between North Korea and U.S. President Donald Trump.

Meanwhile, China - North Korea's closest ally and trading partner - expressed alarm at how far the rhetoric on both sides had gone, warning of the increased risk of a "fatal misjudgement"."The global community won't accept North Korea as a nuclear power". The aircraft then conducted similar simulated air to ground striking drills off the peninsula's west coast, according to South Korea's Defense Ministry.

"I suppose this must be in reference to pre-empting an imminent North Korean nuclear attack", says regional security analyst Daniel Pinkston with Troy University in Seoul.

Robert Lee, a cybersecurity expert who consults with the industry, told NBC News that "any targeting of infrastructure by a foreign power is a concerning thing", but that North Korea and other adversaries "are far from being able to disrupt the electric grid".

United Kingdom leader Theresa May's slogan literally fell apart during her 'disastrous' speech
May's speech started with an apology over the snap general election she called in June. Cabinet ministers rally around May .

Rhee told CNN on Tuesday that the documents stolen included the South Korea-US wartime operational plan and a document that includes procedures to "decapitate" the North Korean leadership. In a speech at the United Nations in September, the US President accused the North Korean leader Kim of being "on a suicide mission" - while Kim responded by vowing to "tame the mentally deranged US dotard with fire".

North Korea has been conducting regular missile tests in recent months as well as testing a nuclear warhead in September, all part of its bid to establish a nuclear deterrent to what it sees as a military threat from the US. But Kim, the third generation of his family to rule, is officially revered in the North, and any suggestion of removing him from power is taken extremely seriously in Pyongyang.

The rogue regime is suspected to have perpetrated the infamous Sony Pictures hack, incapacitated and stolen millions from top banks, negatively impacted hundreds of thousands of computers worldwide through the spread of ransomware, and disrupted numerous systems across South Korea. He revealed that around 235 gigabytes of military documents had been stolen from the Defence Integrated Data Centre, and that 80% of them have yet to be identified.

North Korea has yet to comment on either the bombing drills or the hacking claims.
