Suspect in Temple University student's murder has criminal past

When Joshua Hupperterz left a North Philadelphia bar early Thursday morning, he was caught by a surveillance camera walking with a young woman.

Police say he admitted to parts of the crime.

A man has been charged with the murder of a missing Temple University student whose body was found over the weekend in northeastern Pennsylvania. He is charged with murder, abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence and related charges.

He was accused of murder, mishandle of a cadaver, messing with proof and medication offenses after the dead group of Jenna Burleigh, a 22-year-old junior at Temple, was found at his grandma's home on Saturday. No attorney was listed for Hupperterz, and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 20, according to court records.

Burleigh was killed in Philadelphia, Ryan said, and the crime did not appear to be premeditated, the police source said.

Police say they found her body on a residential property near Scranton on Saturday night.

"This really strikes home for you, particularly, thinking about the heartache and the grief that those parents must be going through right now", said Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross, adding that he also has a 22-year-old daughter. She was majoring in film and media expressions.
