Speculation not helpful, British PM May tells Trump after attack tweet

Speculation not helpful, British PM May tells Trump after attack tweet

A home-made bomb on a packed rush-hour commuter train in London engulfed a carriage in flames and injured 29 people yesterday, but apparently failed to fully explode, in Britain's fifth major terrorism incident this year.

In a prerecorded statement, Prime Minister Theresa May condemned the "cowardly" attack "intended to cause significant harm".

According to The New York Times, Trump's tweets only add to the strain that's been buckling the United States and UK's special relationship.

Scotland Yard also reportedly commented on Trump's tweet saying that it was "unhelpful and pure speculation".

Donald Trump has called the perpetrator of a bombing on the London Underground a "loser terrorist" who was "in the sights of Scotland Yard".

"I spoke with a wonderful woman, British Prime Minster Theresa May, this morning and relayed America's deepest sympathy as well as our absolute commitment to eradicate the terrorists from our planet", Trump said.

"We have to be tougher and we have to be smarter", Trump told reporters before going into the Oval Office.

Maldivian government expresses condolences over Mexican natural disaster
Mexican authorities said at least 60 people were confirmed dead, including many in the state of Oaxaca along the Pacific coast. The Interior Department reported that 428 homes were destroyed and 1,700 were damaged in various cities and towns in Chiapas.

The British authorities mentioned that the explosion was treated as an incident of terrorism. Thus, President Trump wrote on his Twitter that the ban on travelers from several Muslim-majority countries "should be far larger, tougher and more specific".

"It's a bad thing", he said of the London attack. He criticized the mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, for two days after a deadly knife and van attack in June. We need the courts to give us back our rights.

The reaction from Theresa May came hours after President Trump in his early-morning tweets suggested that the United Kingdom authorities had prior information of the perpetrators. The news organization reports it remains unclear if the Trump Administration will look to renew the travel bans.

Trump mischaracterized remarks Khan had made by suggesting the mayor had said there was "no reason to be alarmed" about the attack itself.

The U.S. Supreme Court is expected to hear oral arguments to decide the travel ban's constitutionality in October.

The Trump administration's original policy called for a 90-day travel ban - which will be over in late September - and a 120-day refugee ban which will expire a month later. "We need the Travel Ban as an extra level of safety!"
