Michelle Williams in Talks for 'Venom' Lead Opposite Tom Hardy

Michelle Williams in Talks for 'Venom' Lead Opposite Tom Hardy

This includes Venom and other Spider-Man-related characters like Silver Sable and Black Cat.

Sony has been trying for some time to work on a feature film for Venom.

Variety is reporting that Michelle Williams is now in negotiations to join the cast of Venom.

The Ruben Fleischer-directed project, which also has Riz Ahmed ('Night Of, ' "Rogue One") attached to star, will be a standalone and play no part in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She first aided Spider-Man in apprehending her ex-husband.

Kenya Supreme Court: 'No choice but to accept' opposition hacking claims
President Kenyatta was named victor of the August 8 election, officially winning 54 percent of the vote. Kenyatta has accepted the court's decision and aides say he is confident of winning once again.

Williams would be a strong choice for this role, and if she gets it, it will be very interesting to see how she plays off of Hardy. This role feels weird for Williams, as she's already getting Oscar Buzz for Ridley Scott's All The Money In the World, is supposedly great in Todd Haynes' Wonderstruck, and hasn't been in a big studio picture since Oz: The Great and the Powerful (which is, admittedly, fun). Back in March, our friends at Collider revealed that the studio and Marvel had reached an agreement to launch a new Marvel Universe that "will not be connected to the MCU" in any shape or form. As a result, you have a creature with all of Venom's powers, but none of Eddie Brock's (admittedly limited) morals and scruples.

Venom made his big-screen debut in 2007's Spider-Man 3, with Topher Grace portraying Eddie Brock in the notoriously maligned Spider-Man franchise sequel.

2002 "Spider-Man" writer Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner ('The Dark Tower') will write the script, with Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach producing the movie, along with Amy Pascal. Venom is reportedly meant to be an R-rated, sci-fi and horror take on the comic book villain.

"Venom" is set for release in cinemas on October 5th, 2018. It will go into production this fall.
