Gov. Ducey says he supports latest health care repeal law

Gov. Ducey says he supports latest health care repeal law

Many Americans sat on the edges of their seats as Republican-led efforts to repeal and replace, or just straight up repeal, the Affordable Care Act-the suddenly much more popular healthcare law-failed in Congress earlier this summer. But some of the same GOP senators who blocked various stages of earlier repeal efforts are withholding their support. "If I could just say again, the way to do this is have a bill, put it through committee", he said on CBS's "Face the Nation". Lawmakers have been seeking to repeal and replace Obamacare through a procedural maneuver known as reconciliation, which allows the Senate to limit debate with 51 votes.

Because Graham and Cassidy are civil interlocutors and have sounded more reasonable than many of their Republican colleagues in talking about health care, there is an unexamined assumption that their proposal must be more sensible than other approaches to repeal. Graham said they could have as many as 48 votes if the vote were held now. "It is his dream and that's where Democrats are going". This legislation would force millions off their health insurance plans and would even let insurance raise your rates if you get sick, even if your plan isn't up for renewal yet.

Congressional rules could play a large role in whether the Graham-Cassidy bill passes.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Monday sounded the alarm against the latest Republican proposal to repeal Obamacare.

Conservative Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky has repeatedly railed against the measure, arguing it's "Obamacare lite" and doesn't do enough to repeal key provisions of the ACA.

Republicans in the Senate are considering voting on another Obamacare repeal bill before September 30, Politico reported.

With the proposed block grant, Cassidy said, "we equalize how much each American receives toward her care, irrespective of where she lives".

Apple TV Is Finally Getting Support for 4K and HDR Video
Apple said it's working with Netflix for 4K titles and will launch Amazon Prime Video support later this year. The Apple TV 4K also has, compared to its predecessor, much more power under the hood.

Co-sponsoring the proposal with Graham and Cassidy are Chairman Ron Johnson, R-Wisc., and Dean Heller, R-Nev.

That means McCain and others will have to decide whether they can justify moving ahead without a complete picture of how states would fare under the new health care bill. A more recent twist has been the "per capita cap" which adjusts federal funding to the number of people deemed eligible in each state. States would be given flexibility on essential health benefit coverage. "In the short-term non-expansion states may see gains under the bill given redistribution of ACA related spending streams". Some Republican senators are nervous about the measure's impact on their own states, and the lack of CBO projections won't help allay their concerns.

Graham and Cassidy would distribute federal block grant funds to the states using a complex formula that, like any such formula, creates winners and losers.

And, crucially, past year far too many people were complacent; they assumed that Trump couldn't possibly become president, so they felt free to engage in trivial pursuits.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) said that if the bill gets the support of 50 of 52 Republican senators, he can bring it to the floor.

Murray spokeswoman Helen Hare said Murray is "hopeful and optimistic" a deal could be announced soon - a statement that came as Democrats tried peeling away GOP support from the Graham-Cassidy bill.
