White Sox place Willy Garcia on 7-day DL with concussion

White Sox place Willy Garcia on 7-day DL with concussion

As Garcia slid to try to make the catch, Moncada hit Garcia in the side of the head with his right knee and tumbled to the ground.

Garcia walked off the field under his own power while Moncada exited on a cart, seemingly unable to put any weight on his right leg. A more serious injury would definitely be a step back for Moncada.

However, the White Sox have just released statements that sure seem like best-case scenarios - so far - for the players. X-Rays on Moncada's knee were negative and he's ruled "Day-To-Day" with a knee contusion. "At the end of the day we won the game and Willy is doing alright and Moncada is doing fine". Obviously, a blow to the head, you're concerned about a concussion.

Chicago manager Rick Renteria said that Moncada's injury was to his lower quad muscle, above the knee. Garcia remembers calling for the ball, but wasn't quibbling about Moncada not hearing his voice over the crowd while sprinting full speed, especially not when they were in adjacent beds in the training room. "Thank God they are, and that's something that we have to be happy about".

Blue Jays: RHP Aaron Sanchez, who is on the disabled list because of a recurrence of a blister on the middle finger of his right hand, is nearing a return. Davidson followed with another base hit into centre, and then was mobbed by his teammates as he ran around the infield.

The team's Twitter account noted both players were forced to leave the game.

Davidson hit a walk-off homer Sunday for just the Sox's second win in 16 games.
