Eric Bolling Suing HuffPo Journalist Over Lewd Photo Allegation

Eric Bolling Suing HuffPo Journalist Over Lewd Photo Allegation

Bolling is suing Yashar Ali, a contributing writer for HuffPost (formerly the Huffington Post) who broke the story of Bolling sending unsolicited lewd text messages to at least three different female colleagues at Fox Business and Fox News.

In a summons filed Wednesday in NY state court, Bolling accused Ali of trying to damage his reputation through "highly reckless publication of actionable false and misleading statements about the plaintiff's conduct and character". It accuses Ali of "efforts to injure the plaintiff's reputation through the intentional and/or highly reckless publication of actionable false and misleading statements about the plaintiff's conduct and character".

"I will continue to fight against these false smear attacks!"

The Fox News host is being represented by Kasowitz Benson Torres, the same law firm that has long represented President Donald Trump.

Fox News host Eric Bolling reportedly has initiated a $50 million lawsuit against the freelance reporter whose article apparently led to his suspension from the conservative cable news giant this weekend, according to a report in Politico.

The summons also said Bolling was "substantially harmed" by Ali's article.

Bolling received a ton of support from fans in response to his tweet. Asked for comment about the lawsuit, a Fox News spokesperson did not provide further comment other than noting he is still suspended.

Editor's note: Shannon Minter is the legal director for the National Center for Lesbian Rights. With a tweet, the President has cast their status into doubt.

Bolling's suit doesn't name Huffington Post.

The lawsuit comes just days after Ali wrote an August 4 story for HuffPost claiming that more than a dozen sources told him Bolling sent "an unsolicited photo of male genitalia via text message to at least two colleagues at Fox Business and one colleague at Fox News".

The report in question was written by Yashar Ali, a contributor to HuffPost. "Not going to stop reporting on Eric Bolling or anyone else".

"We stand by his reporting", HuffPost Editor-in-Chief Lydia Polgreen tweeted. On one occasion when she was in town, he took her into his office and told her it was his favorite place to have sex, she said. He has worked at Fox News since 2008. "Ali is a paid freelancer under contract with HuffPost".

This is not the first time Fox News has been caught up in allegations of sexual misconduct by its male employees.

In early July, longtime Fox Business Network host Charles Payne was suspended after a frequent guest on the network accused him of sexual harassment.
