Two arrested, charged with the murders of missing Bucks Co. men

Two arrested, charged with the murders of missing Bucks Co. men

Police dogs found the body of 19-year-old Dean Finocchiaro on Wednesday, in a 12-foot (3.7 metre) deep grave along with other human remains that have yet to be identified.

Weintraub declined to comment Thursday whether any of the other remains had been identified but said investigators made some progress.

The details were provided after one of Cosmo DiNardo's lawyers said Thursday that DiNardo had confessed to murdering the missing men, who included a Maryland college student, and had told investigators where their bodies were.

His lawyer Paul Yang said that in exchange for the confession, prosecutors agreed to remove any death penalty.

Weintraub held a dramatic midnight news conference to announce that remains had been found buried deep underground after four days of searching a farm property north of Philadelphia.

On Friday, even with Dinardo in custody, the extent and conditions of his apparent plea deal remained unknown, and he had not been charged in connection with the killings.

Prosecutors said DiNardo suffered from schizophrenia.

Finocchiaro went missing on July 5, while the other three men vanished last Friday.

Investigators located Patrick's body Thursday. The charging documents state that DiNardo used a backhoe to pick up both men's bodies, put them in the same metal tank as Finocchiaro and poured gasoline into the metal tank and lit it. On one day, viewers could watch investigators haul up buckets of dirt and sift it through handheld screens in what looked like an archaeological dig.

Weintraub said investigators found Meo's critical diabetes treatment kit in the auto.

The earlier charge stems from accusations DiNardo was found with a shotgun and ammunition in February despite a prior mental health commitment. "Sean Kratz has been charged with the murders of Mr. Finocchiaro, Mr. Meo and Mr. Sturgis", Bucks County District Attorney Matt Weintraub said.

"In light of recent tragic events in our County, it is more important than ever that we gather to reflect and remember that we are a community and together we are strong", according to a press release.

In a criminal complaint, DiNardo told authorities that he had agreed to sell Patrick four pounds of marijuana for $8,000 and had picked him up at his home in Newtown before driving him to the farm.

DiNardo first was arrested Monday on an unrelated gun charge.

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (AP) - A marijuana dealer gave police a grisly account of killing four men on his family's farm, saying he crushed one of them with a backhoe after shooting him and tried to set three of the bodies on fire in a metal bin with the help of his cousin, according to court papers filed Friday. Online records suggest he attended the same Catholic high school as Patrick but was a year ahead. The victims are: Tom Meo, 21; Jimi Tar Patrick, 19; Dean Finocchiaro, 19; and Mark Sturgis, 21. Later in the day, the two met up with Sturgis and Meo and shot them to death in a similarly sudden manner, the charging document said.

On Wednesday, police arrested a young man whose parents own the farm on a charge he tried to sell a vehicle belonging to one of the missing men. At least three of the four missing men knew one another.

Meo's vehicle was found at a separate property owned by the DiNardo family, a day after authorities said DiNardo attempted to sell Meo's auto to a friend for $500, according to a criminal affidavit.
