The White House Gender Pay Gap Is Worse Than The US Average

According to a CNN analysis of the annual report to Congress, women working at the presidential office are earning 80 cents to every dollar paid to their male colleagues. This gap is wider than the national average of 82 cents on dollar in the U.S., according to Labour Department. She's more than willing to tweet about closing the gender pay gap to build her personal brand, write with a straight face that she was "proud to work towards this goal alongside my father and in support of the administration's commitment to women and families", and profit off of books with warmed-over cliches about working women, but when comes to actually advancing the principles she espouses (cough, Paris climate accords, cough), she does little of actual outcome.

In the lower-paid bracket, where salaries are up to $50,000, women and men are relatively even, although some of Trump's lowest paid staffers are in senior roles.

The disparity appears to be directly linked to the question of who works in the upper ranks of the White House staff. These include Gary Cohn, Trump's chief economic advisor and former Goldman Sachs president, and Chris Liddell, Trump's director of strategic initiatives and former General Motors and Microsoft executive, who both take home $30,000.

While Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner's roles in the White House have earned scorn and concerns about nepotism, neither Kushner nor Ivanka are receiving salaries for their positions assisting the president.

Past reporting indicates the disparity is not new to the Trump White House - though it may be more pronounced.

This salary survey comes at a time when nations like Iceland have already initiated the process of ensuring equal pay for men and women. "I wouldn't hold up the White House as the ideal example here", he said, "The White House has some improvement to make". We must work to close the gender pay gap! "It shows the priority you place on the issues surrounding women and girls", she said.
