Zarif to Annan: Iran to Provide Qatar with Humanitarian Aids

Zarif to Annan: Iran to Provide Qatar with Humanitarian Aids

"We have intelligence that Saudi Arabia is actively engaged in promoting terrorist groups on the eastern side of Iran, in Baluchistan", Mohammad Javad Zarif said on the sidelines of a conference on peace mediation in Oslo.

"On the Western side the same type of activity is being undertaken, again by using the diplomatic hospitality of other neighbours", Zarif said.

It comes as relations between Tehran and Washington have grown increasingly strained, most recently overshadowed by a string of allegations made by a number of high-ranking Iranian officials claiming the USA had forged an alliance with Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL).

Two days later, suicide bombings and shootings in Tehran killed 17 people.

Iraqi government forces flash the sign for victory while holding a Daesh flag in western Mosul's Zanjili neighbourhood on June 9, 2017, during ongoing battles to try to take the city from Islamic State (IS) group fighters.

His comments come after a top Iranian general claimed the Islamic Republic had evidence the USA was directly supporting the group.

But Saudi officials have denied any involvement while Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has condemned it without laying any blame as yet.

Iran's intelligence ministry said the attackers were Iranians who had joined ISIS in Iraq and Syria and returned home to carry out the attack.

Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain broke off relations with Qatar on 5 June, accusing the small but oil-rich emirate of supporting "terrorism" and being too close to Iran, which is Riyadh's regional rival.

He also told high-ranking Iranian officials that "America's claim of fighting against Islamic State is a lie", Reuters reports, while in an interview with Iranian media, he said the U.S. regarded his country as an enemy.

"We believe that the rest of the worldwide community will make it clear - as it has done already to them - that it considers the nuclear deal as a multilateral agreement and not a bilateral agreement between Iran and the United States", Zarif said.

Iran repeated accusations that Saudi Arabia funds Islamic militants including Islamic State.
