Wounded Rep. Steve Scalise out of intensive care

Wounded Rep. Steve Scalise out of intensive care

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, critically injured when he was shot during a congressional baseball practice, has been transferred out of intensive care, The Washington Post and Fox News reported Friday. He was near death when he arrived at the hospital and remained in critical condition into this week.

Doctors say Congressman Scalise is in fair condition and is in the process of healing and rehabilitation.

More on this as it develops.

While Bailey, Griner and Barth have since been released, Mika has remained in hospital and was also initially under critical condition.

The shooting occurred as 25 to 30 Republican members of the House and Senate had gathered for an early morning practice a day before the annual charity game, which was played on June 15. He has since moved out of the ICU and is in "good condition", according to CBS News.

This footage overlaps with what we saw a year ago , when Diamond Reynolds started filming for Facebook Live as Castile was dying. In the video, Castile's girlfriend is heard saying he was reaching for his wallet when the officer shot him four times.

150 gather at Minnesota park for Castile rally
Even though the number had dwindled to about 500 at 11:00 p-m Friday, Interstate 94 remained closed to traffic. But Ramsey County Attorney John Choi, who filed charges against the officer, declared such fear unreasonable.

The anti-Republican gunman, James T. Hodgskinson, was fatally shot by officers during the attack.

The facility previously said the lawmaker received a "transpelvic gunshot wound" where the bullet went across his body, damaging bones and internal organs.

The attack spurred an outpouring of bipartisan support, and Scalise's colleagues on Capitol Hill continue to rally together. McHenry tweeted pictures of Vice President Mike Pence donating blood on Tuesday.

Matt Mika, a lobbyist for Tyson Foods, is expected to make a full recovery after being shot in the chest, his family said in a statement Saturday. "He will certainly be in the hospital for a considerable period of time, presumably weeks".
