Ousted FBI director to testify June 8

The Senate's main interest in Comey concerns the nature of his encounters with Trump and whether Comey took contemporaneous notes of their meetings.

Comey is expected to be questioned about the circumstances of his firing and allegations that Trump has tried to stifle the agency's investigation and divert attention to intelligence leaks that have hurt his administration.

After an open session in the morning, the committee will then be further briefed by Comey behind closed doors, said Sens.

Another congressional source, who also requested anonymity, said Democrats were "informed and consulted" before the subpoenas were issued.

Trump denies any collusion between Russian Federation and his campaign and has questioned the veracity of the USA intelligence finding.

On Wednesday, the House of Representatives Intelligence Committee approved subpoenas for Flynn and Trump's personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, in connection with its probe.

The missile reached an altitude of 2,000 kilometers (1,245 miles), a first for a North Korean missile. But he added: "We must stop intimidating North Korea and find a peaceful solution to this problem".

Additional subpoenas for the National Security Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the CIA seek information about requests that government officials made to unmask the identities of US individuals named in classified intelligence reports.

"Subpoenas related to the "unmasking" issue would have been sent by Chairman Nunes acting separately from the committee's Russian Federation investigation".

Comey is expected to testify about his documentation of interactions with President Trump, in which the president asked Comey for his loyalty and asked Comey to drop the investigation into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.

Mr Flynn resigned in February after it was revealed that he had misled Vice President Mike Pence and other top White House officials about his conversations with Sergey Kislyak, the Russian ambassador to the US.

Trump tweeted on Wednesday in a pair of missives, 'So now it is reported that the Democrats, who have excoriated Carter Page about Russian Federation, don't want him to testify.

Comey's testimony is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. EST June 8. He blows away their. case against him & now wants to clear his name by showing 'the false or misleading testimony by James Comey, John Brennan.' Witch Hunt!'
