Gurgaon Woman Allegedly Gang-Raped In Moving Car, Dumped Near Hospital

Gurgaon Woman Allegedly Gang-Raped In Moving Car, Dumped Near Hospital

A woman was allegedly gang-raped in a moving vehicle for hours in the satellite city of Gurgaon near Delhi Monday night before being dumped near a hospital in Greater Noida, around 70 kilometres away, police said.

'A sketch artist has been assigned to portray the descriptions provided by the victim, ' said a senior police officer from Greater Noida.

Although India has more stringent laws against sexual offenders after Jyoti Singh was gangraped by four men in Delhi in December 2012, violence against women continues unabated, Hindustan Times reported.

She was found on the road by a passerby and then taken by the police to a local hospital. "We are in the process of recording her statements", the officer said.

At the Sector 29 police station, the woman registered her statement in the presence of legal advisers of Uttar Pradesh Police and Haryana Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police Deepak Saharan told IANS.

The woman, believed to be a resident of Bharatpur in Rajasthan who had come to Sohna for work, was thrown out of the auto in Greater Noida around 4am, the official said. "We are investigating the case to identify and arrest the accused", said SSP Love Kumar.

The accused had also warned her not to reveal the incident to anyone.

"We reached the spot and found the woman lying unattended". A team of Gautambudh Nagar police is arriving in Gurugram to examine the sequence of the crime.

Police teams are examining the CCTV footage of major roads in the NCR region to get some clues, he added.

Sources in the police department said there is some confusion regarding the case and that the matter needed to be probed further.
