Ferrari Grabs One-Two Victory In Monaco

Lewis Hamilton will sit down with his Mercedes team in the coming days as he attempts to get on top of the auto problems which are threatening to derail his challenge for a fourth title.

Vettel went on to claim his 45th win in F1 and third of the season, with Raikkonen following home in second, but the doubt in the legitimacy of the tactics came in the timing of Raikkonen's pit stop.

Michael Schumacher's victory in 2001 was the Scuderia's last here, but the German took his second win in the principality after some blistering laps midway through the race. In terms of looking for, I don't know if we will need more hard weekends or not.

Mercedes trail Ferrari in the constructors' championship by 17 points and the team's director of motorsport, Toto Wolff, backed his driver in confirming the team had to analyse why their vehicle was not handling the tyres as well as Ferrari.

Indeed his victory in Spain earlier this month has been sandwiched by a distant fourth-place finish in Russian Federation and now seventh in Monte Carlo, too. Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) +5.517s 5.

"I'll be pushing and the guys will be pushing to fully understand because we don't want to be in this position", Hamilton said.

"We are racing, we get on well".

"We've just been missing pace", Bottas said. But it is how it goes sometimes: we go to the next race and try to do better.

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff doesn't believe that Sebastian Vettel's win in Monaco was the result of rogue tactics at Ferrari meant to favour the German to the detriment of team mate Kimi Raikkonen.

Lewis Hamilton: Mercedes must solve tyre problem quickly to challenge Vettel
The next race is the Canadian GP in two weeks' time, and all eyes will be on Mercedes in practice and qualifying. What is apparently clear is that Ferrari has definitely moved ahead of Mercedes in the pecking order.

Christy Clark to stay on as BC premier
Under the terms of the deal the Greens promise not to defeat the New Democrats for the full four-year term of the new parliament. The parties have agreed to use the entire machinery of government to throw roadblocks at the Kinder Morgan pipeline expansion.

Hamilton subsequently suggested that Ferrari's tactics provided the most obvious evidence yet that Vettel is being given preferential treatment by the Italian constructor this season.

"As matter of fact, I think we have been since the beginning of the season". "Valtteri is doing a great job and I don't now feel that we have to have a No.1".

"I still believe we can win this thing".

"Inconsistency has been following us through the season, and on the opposite side Ferrari put the vehicle on track in Barcelona and they were quick from the get-go", he said.

But Hamilton remains upbeat ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix in a fortnight's time. It is a track which has proved kind to the Briton in the past, winning his first race there back in 2007, and an event which he has gone on to win a further four times. Hamilton admits Mercedes has work to do in order to rectify its inconsistent performances.

"That he was beaten into second by his teammate Sebastian Vettel was plainly to the German's advantage in his battle for the Formula 1 world championship with Lewis Hamilton".

"We are the underdog".

"So yes, we are the underdog and we need to catch up".
