ESPN's John Clayton Dropped An All-Time Great Tweet After Being Laid Off

ESPN's John Clayton Dropped An All-Time Great Tweet After Being Laid Off

John Clayton confirmed reports that surfaced on Wednesday that his time with ESPN was ending, one of the many well-known faces on the network to depart in a wave of layoffs this month.

The departure of "The Professor", a senior NFL writer who is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame writers' wing, was reported by The Sporting News' Michael McCarthy. "I have daily show on 710 ESPN Seattle 10 to 12 pacific".

Clayton has been with the Worldwide Leader in Sports for 23 years.

The Clayton layoff is part of a wider downsizing in the sports media industry, as reputable names across the board have been laid off this year. He also hosts a podcast and appears on SiriusXM. ESPN declined to comment on the matter for The Post and Clayton has not responded to a request for comment.

Kim Kardashian deletes social media post on Manchester attack after fiery backlash
The tweet also included a photo of Kardashian, her sister Kendall Jenner and Grande, taken previous year at a Kanye West concert. While the picture might not have been the best idea (which she seems to have realized in retrospect), her words were heartfelt.

He joins a laundry list of strong talent to be given their walking papers by the cable television empire, including the likes of Chad Ford, Andy Katz and Ed Werder. Last year, the network moved on from Cris Carter, Keyshawn Johnson, and Ray Lewis for its National Football League coverage.

Clayton also made a reference to his incredible SportsCenter commercial. Analysts Charles Woodson, Randy Moss and Matt Hasselback were brought in to take their places on ESPN's two signature studio shows, "Sunday NFL Countdown" and "Monday Night Countdown".

Since then, names of those affected have dribbled out, with an ESPN source indicating that it was up to laid-off employees to announce their status.

If you're a pro football fan, are you surprised that ESPN made a decision to include John Clayton in the layoffs?
