Trump to deliver commencement address at Liberty University

Donald Trump spoke at the commencement ceremony for Liberty University and the crowed roared when he was introduced as a man who "bombed those in the middle east who persecuting Christians". A Lehigh professor urged the university to rescind Trump's degree too, but the school took no action. "The future belongs to the people who follow their heart, no matter what the critics say, because they truly believe in their vision".

Trump did not specifically mention Comey or other political disputes that have marked his first four months in office, but made repeated general references to his maverick campaign and presidency.

A highlight of the president's address was when he stated, "I know that each of you will be a warrior for the truth, the country and your family".

Virginia was the only state in the South that Trump did not carry in 2016, but he thanked evangelical voters for supporting his campaign.

Liberty's president, Jerry Falwell, Jr., has long supported Trump, himself a Presbyterian who has married three times, built casinos, and was caught on tape bragging about groping women.

Robert Gordon had bestowed an honorary doctorate of business administration in 2010 - a controversial move at the time because the Aberdeen community where the university is located was divided over a Trump-led golf course project.

"In the course of the current USA election campaign, Mr. Trump has made a number of statements that are wholly incompatible with the ethos and values of the university", Robert Gordon said in a statement.

"Honestly, we have deep ideological differences with Donald Trump and with Liberty University to be honest", said Nick Castanes, Seven Hills' de facto chairman and a Montessori school teacher".

Philippines, US begin smaller-scale joint military exercises
They will involve 2,600 American soldiers and 2,800 Filipino troops compared to a total of 12,000 in the 2015 edition of Balikatan .

"It is so disrespectful, these universities, many elitist universities", said Falwell.

"We are rolling back the job-killing regulations that make it harder for companies to grow and hire in America". Plus Mr. Trump took the time to go over some of his personal achievements. "In other words your parents", Trump told the graduates.

"Be totally unafraid to challenge entrenched interests and failed power structures", he said, adding with a smile: "Does that sound familiar, by the way?"

"Country-wide, we have serious problems", he told the Lehigh graduates. "You must keep pushing forward".

But the president received a warm reception on Saturday from the roughly 50,000 commencement attendees - a record crowd for the university, he proudly announced.

He says: "I'm guessing there are some people here today who thought that either one of those things — either one — would really require major help from God". "He can be expected to note to the graduates his own change in status since they were last together".

Someone should tell the president, who often often boasted along the campaign trail of having attended an Ivy League school and being "highly educated", that "In God We Trust" was not originally the USA motto, and that "Under God" was not originally part of the Pledge. "Do we agree?" he said to laughter.
