Teen's plea for free Wendy's nuggets sets retweet record

A 16-year-old boy's plea for a year of free chicken nuggets has become the most retweeted message on Twitter - smashing the previous record set by TV host Ellen DeGeneres' iconic Oscars selfie. Keeping the nuggets aside, the boy recorded his name in Guinness Book of World Records by gaining 34,30,500 retweets.

Carter Wilkerson was retweeted more than 3.4 million times, breaking the record held by Ellen DeGeneres.

Despite thousands of replies to the April tweet that were critical of United, the airline's social media account still seemed to think it was a good idea to follow up on the tweet this week. He ate them and went to the owner and innocently asked him how many retweets he has to get to eat the nuggets for an entire year without paying anything.

It started simple enough; when the now Internet legend from Nevada, USA tweeted the US fast-food chain casually asking how many retweets were needed to get a year's supply of chicken nuggets.

Some people on Twitter made jokes like "it's a trap", and, "Can't wait to see you get dragged out of the plane with a bag full of #nuggz".
