Playoffs Round 1 Series Recap: Utah Jazz Eliminate the LA Clippers

Derrick Favors and George Hill added 17 points apiece in a balanced scoring effort for Utah. Now, the Jazz will face the Warriors on Tuesday night, in Oakland.

The first six games between the fourth-seeded Clippers and No. 5 Utah were decided by eight points or less with Los Angeles outscoring Utah 98.8 points to 98.0 points.

In the fourth, the Jazz were well in command, ahead by 17 points and hardly feeling pressured by foul trouble for Rudy Gobert and Favors, who both fouled out. And Favors was phenomenal: he had 17 points on 8-11 shooting. "But I felt like I owed them, especially in this game". I just wanted to come out, be aggressive, make sure I had their backs.

Griffin has missed a combined 83 regular-season games the past three years, appearing in just 66 percent of the Clippers games. Hayward pulled down eight rebounds. Now, they'll meet again and this time it's Golden State that is coming into the series as the heavy favorite.

It was a big boost of confidence for a team that hadn't won a playoff series since 2010.

"It's unusual", coach Quin Snyder said. Jamal Crawford added 20 points off the bench. "There might be six seconds left on the shot clock and they'll make one or two more passes, so we have to be poised and disciplined to play the shot clock all the way through".

Chris Paul added to his postseason woes. "But give them (Jazz) credit".

Sources close to the Clippers say that they expect Paul to re-sign with the Clippers. They had fun in that Game 7, an 82-72 victory at Memphis.

Buccaneers select OJ Howard in first round of National Football League draft
Foster proved he could play on the big stage as well, notching 12 tackles and a sack in the Championship Game loss to Clemson. Howard is the first SEC tight end taken that early since 2004, when New England selected Georgia's Ben Watson.

"The break was good, but sheesh, long", Green said. That means the big being up in the ball screen. "I think if you really want to find something to get into, I don't care where you are, you can find something to get into". "But for me, I've got to figure out ways to do that anyway".

The loss for Washington is a bad one considering the Wizards were up 38-24 after the first quarter.

Led by their own MVP candidate in Kawhi Leonard and a resurgent Tony Parker, the Spurs will have to match Houston's offensive output if they can't contain the Rockets when the series tips off Monday night in San Antonio.

The Jazz opened the third on a 23-9 run, extending their lead to 69-48 - largest in the series.

Boston led by 15 at the end of the third before a 9-0 spurt by the Wizards to start the final period closed the gap.

Clippers forward Paul Pierce played his final National Basketball Association game. And then the role players contributed: Rodney Hood's shot fell, he scored 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting. He most likely will also coach beyond Game 1 as well.

The Jazz won three road games in the series, gaining valuable experience away from the confines of their loud, boisterous home arena. In the previous two, the Jazz prevailed two best-of-five series, winning 3-2 in 1992 and sweeping the Clippers in 1997.
