Nigeria president attends Friday prayers amid health woes

Nigeria president attends Friday prayers amid health woes

In a statement signed by Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, the Presidency noted that the meeting which was scheduled for Friday, May 5, 2017, has been put forward to a later date.

Members of the cabal controlling events around the President include the Director General of the Directorate of State Security (DSS), Lawal Daura, Mr. Buhari's powerful nephew, Mamman Daura, his Personal Secretary, Tunde "Idiagbon" Sabiu, a businessman, Isa Funtua, Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, and Babagana Kingibe, a former Secretary to the Government who was the running mate to Moshood Kashimawo Abiola, the presumed victor of the June 12, 1993 presidential election.

The Nigerian leader's absence on Wednesday from his third cabinet meeting in as many weeks has heightened fears about his health and whether close allies might be profiting from his illness.

Soyinka, at a press conference in Lagos on April 28, said Buhari's failure to publicly disclose his state of health had increased political manipulations in the country.

The Nobel laureate had asked, "Why is the President hiding his state of health?"
