Hacking group offers subscription for NSA code

The ransomware Attack was because of the existing Windows XP systems throughout the world which had been announced unsupported by Microsoft after 2014.

Shadow Brokers, the group that leaked parts of U.S. national security agency's (NSA) cyber weapons stockpile which formed the basis of the recent WannaCry ransomware, said it would release hacking tools every month to those willing to pay for it.

It was claimed by anonymous insiders earlier this week that the spy agency had been forced to warn Microsoft of the EternalBlue Windows exploit it developed after it was stolen by Shadow Brokers.

Those patches included MS17-010, which contains a fix for the SMB exploit the Shadow Brokers leaked in April and now used by the WannaCry ransomware. It wants to sell them, starting in June through "TheShadowBrokers Data Dump of the Month" service.

The Shadow Brokers are back once again, offering buyers not just exploits, but also "compromised network data from Russian, Chinese, Iranian, or North Korean nukes and missile programs".

Given that the Wannacry attack has already proven the potency of the materials in their possession, it is rather alarming to consider what could be contained in their next set of leaks, especially if they actually have information regarding the nuclear programs of countries.

According to a statement posted on Steemit, the Shadow Brokers are putting together a service it likens to a wine of the month club, wherein every month members will receive a new batch of exploits.

Si Woo Kim to leave golf for military service
Once Kim dropped his three birdies putts, he was unrelenting, especially when he made par saves on six of the back-nine holes. Compatriot Sang Moon Bae - also a two-time victor on the PGA Tour - is now serving two years of mandatory military service.

What is more interesting is the fact that one of the countries the group tried to sell data to is Korea, which puts the theory of North Korea being behind the WannaCry attacks under serious doubt.

The Shadow Brokers stated that future leaks could include exploits and hacking tools for web browsers, routers and handsets. It adds, "Each month peoples can be paying membership fee, then getting members only data dump each month". The group said that the data would be locked behind a subscription fee, but, beyond that, they do not care who buys the data or for what goal it is used.

In a blog post written in its trademark broken English, the group said it has more so-called Ops Disks, which it says were also stolen from the NSA.

It is unknown whether the Shadow Brokers genuinely have further tools stolen from the NSA or whether the group will make good on its threats.

The patch eventually came out in March, a month before the EternalBlue exploit was made public, however computer systems which had not applied the patch were still vulnerable to attack.

It also caused a public statement from Microsoft attacking the USA government for stockpiling software exploits, arguing: "An equivalent scenario with conventional weapons would be the USA military having some of its Tomahawk missiles stolen".
