Dunne Speaks - Mental Health

Dunne Speaks - Mental Health

In February, we published our second annual wellbeing research report in association with Reward & Employee Benefits Association 'Employee Wellbeing Research 2017: The evolution of workplace wellbeing in the United Kingdom, ' which uncovered several trends about mental health.

A City and Hackney assessment from last April estimated that 53,000 Hackney residents aged 19-64 have at least one common mental health disorder, of whom around half have depression and/or anxiety. This year the week aims to advise people about what they can do to look after their mental health and how to cope with the demands of everyday life.

Mental health issues can vary in degree of complexity, type, frequency, intensity and duration. We need a safety net that is more responsive to unexpected changes in circumstances and health, and less quick to penalise people for whom, at one particular moment in time, life has become an unbearable struggle. Many of us, myself included, like to pretend to everyone that we are fine, but people do want to listen and help, both personally and professionally.

If we build a movement around this vision, the next generation will be as comfortable getting treatment for bipolar disorder as they are for a sports injury.

During treatment at Valley Baptist Behavioral Health Services, psychiatrists provide an evaluation of each client's treatment needs, prescribe and monitor medications, and supervise treatment, working in close collaboration with the patient's primary care physicians.

Nothing is more important to us, as parents, advocates and practitioners, than ensuring all children have the opportunity to thrive physically, mentally and emotionally.

Children and young people harm for a number of reasons and are expressing distress, which they can not express verbally. Everyone has mental health - it just fluctuates from positive mental health through to mental illness. Expenditures related to mental health are evidence of organizations monitoring their costs and trends.

"It's all about a drive to find out different ways that we can help our patients access goods and services, for free - the majority of them are free".
