Physician who was dragged off flight settles with United

Less than a month after videos that showed a United passenger being violently dragged off his flight drew global condemnation, Congress has summoned the airline's CEO and executives from other carriers to answer how they will prevent a repeat of the horrifying incident.

United Airlines and lawyers for the passenger seen on video being dragged from a United airliner in Chicago say the man has reached "an amicable settlement" with the airline. The terms of the deal stated that the amount of the deal is to remain confidential.

Mobile phone footage of the April 9 confrontation on board a plane at Chicago's O'Hare Airport sparked widespread public outrage over the treatment of Mr Dao.

United's statement refers to "the unfortunate incident", and promises in the future it will "put our customers at the center of everything we do".

Demetrio, in a news release, also praised United CEO Oscar Munoz and said he did do the right thing in regards to this incident.

"The company has made the decision that we'll cease to overbook going forward", Kelly said Thursday on CNBC.

"For this acceptance of corporate accountability, United is to be applauded", he said.

In the report, United says it had allowed internal policies to distract from the need to treat passengers with dignity and respect and it outlines what the company intends to do to prevent a repeat of the incident. In addition to unnecessarily summoning law enforcement, the airline should not have tried to find space on the flight for crew members at the last minute. When Dao refused to leave the plane, the airline called in Chicago Aviation Department officers, who dragged him off the flight.

Three worst Chelsea players in win v Southampton
Whether or not Costa is still a Chelsea player next season is immaterial in respect of the current campaign. The victory pushed Chelsea on to 78 points after 33 games and exerted more pressure on second-placed Spurs.

United has announced the following changes as a response to the incident.

Already one major airline, Southwest, has said they will no longer overbook flights.

"Dr. Dao has become the unintended champion for the adoption of changes that will help improve the lives of literally millions of travelers", said Demetrio.

Despite the policy change, King said there are still certain instances in which passengers could be asked to take a flight later than the one for which they have a ticket.

"I hope other airlines will follow United's lead", Demetrio told The New York Times.

Southwest Airlines said on the same day that it would end overbooking of flights.

Munoz, who took the helm at United in 2015 as part of an effort to improve customer relations, has faced calls to step down after referring to Dao as "disruptive and belligerent" in a statement following the incident.

Those who volunteer to surrender their seats when a flight is overbooked would get up to $10,000 in compensation.
