Microsoft Retiring Wunderlist Tool, Announces Replacement App Called To-Do

Microsoft Retiring Wunderlist Tool, Announces Replacement App Called To-Do

To-Do List arrives on Windows 10 as a universal app, so it works on both PCs along with smartphones running Windows 10 Mobile.

Microsoft has announced a new "intelligent task management app", developed by the team behind Wunderlist, which Microsoft acquired nearly two years ago.

Microsoft To-Do will, in a couple of minutes, import all your lists and even categorize them as they were before. The app is integrated with Office 365, and uses "an intelligent algorithm" to assist in users' task management, offering "helpful suggestions" to help prioritize what's most important. With a simple design and ultra minimal interface, the app looks to be a pretty standard task manager, allowing you to create to-dos and lists, and add reminders and due dates. Microsoft also plans to release To-Do for Android tablets, along with the iPad and Mac PCs, sometime in the future. Once we are confident that we have incorporated the best of Wunderlist into To-Do, we will retire Wunderlist. The app is now available in preview. Microsoft clarified that the To-Do list application can be used for those with Microsoft accounts and not only those with a Office 365 subscription. "In the meantime, there will not be any features brought to Wunderlist, but we will continue to ensure the security of the Wunderlist experience". It integrates with your calendar and the existing tasks functions in Outlook. As the name suggests, the app is a to-do app, although it has been created to be more intuitive and intelligent, and has been put-together by the team behind Wunderlist, following its acquisition by Microsoft. It is available on all platforms including Windows 10.

To-Do is now available for Android, iOS, and Windows 10 which allows users to keep track of tasks they need to perform during their day. In its blog, Microsoft presented this as an easy way to manage lists, as these can be "just as hard to follows as they were to complete". Any task that the person does not get done is hidden away the user hits the lightbulb button for suggestions about things they should get done.

Microsoft explains that the To-Do app offers new features including "My Day" which lists items that needed to be done.
