Jaguar F-Pace SUV wins World Car of the Year 2017 title

Jaguar F-Pace SUV wins World Car of the Year 2017 title

A thoroughly deserved win by Jaguar, beating off competition from the Audi Q5 and Volkswagen Tiguan in the final top three (making the Jag's win a bit of a no-brainer), and doing no harm at all to future sales of the F-Pace in the process.

On top of this the F-Pace was also awarded the World Car Design award, with the SUV showcasing Jaguar's design pedigree.

The awards director, Mike Rutherford stated "Jaguar has done the unthinkable by first securing the World Car Design of the Year award and then the overall World Car of the Year trophy".

"It's spacious, too, and - something I haven't mentioned yet, but perhaps the most important point of all - it looks fantastic". This first SUV from Jaguar has taken over the much-coveted crown. The launch of the Jaguar F-Pace evoked mixed reactions from auto experts and fans.

Although the World Car of the Year awards is now a recognized part of the New York International Auto Show, this year saw the very first award for World Urban Car, a new sub-category presented to reflect the growing rivalry and development in the city and compact automobile sector worldwide. Some people thought that the automaker must not experiment with an SUV as it can only excel in exquisite luxury cars.

Wells claws back $75 million from top execs in sales scandal
The report comes ahead of Wells Fargo's April 25 annual meeting, where board members are facing the risk of a shareholder revolt. Last year, Wells Fargo was caught creating millions of unauthorized accounts to meet unrealistically high sales goals.

This year's World Car of the Year awards were overseen by 75 jurors comprised of motoring journalists and other experts from around the world. The victor in all the categories were decided at the 2017 New York Motor Show.

The performance SUV is the fastest selling model of Jaguar and it is the second vehicle to claim double awards in the history of the World Car Awards.

Jaguar F-Pace is an amalgamation of style with sporty features. The Porsche 718 Boxster/Cayman has won World Performance Car of the Year, meaning it beat the Audi R8 Spyder and McLaren 570S to the prize.

Meanwhile the Porsche Boxster Cayman took the World Performance Car gong. "This award highlights BMW Group's dedication to sustainable mobility through BMW's first all-electric vehicle made mainly of carbon fibre", stated Ludwig Willisch, Head of BMW Group Region Americas.
