'Christianity is Literally Dying'; Islam to Become Biggest Faith

'Christianity is Literally Dying'; Islam to Become Biggest Faith

With 2.3 billion adherents, Christians are the world's largest religious group and are expected to remain so for several decades, according to the Pew Research Center report "The Changing Global Religious Landscape".

Followers of Muslim community may also be the fastest growing religious groups in decades to come, The Telegraph has said quoting the report.

The study projects that between 2030 and 2035, there will be 225m babies born to Muslims to 224m to Christians, despite Christians being the larger group.

Internationally, Pew Research forecasts that there will be near parity between Muslims (2.8 billion, or 30 per cent of the global population) and Christians (2.9 billion, or 31 per cent) by 2050.

Furthermore, while Christian births accounted for 33 percent of global births in recent years, they also accounted for 37 per cent of global deaths, significantly more than other religions. At the same time, lower fertility and religion switching are among factors that will lead to a drop in numbers of Christians living in Europe and North America, according to Pew Research Center demographic estimates released April 5.

The study projects that two decades later, between 2055 and 2060, around 36 percent of babies will be born to Muslim mothers and 35 percent to Christian women. The number of Muslims - which have the youngest population and highest fertility rate among the major world religions - is expected to increase by 70%.

"In contrast with [the] baby boom among Muslims, people who do not identify with any religion are experiencing a much different trend", said Pew. But it gained more than 100 million devotees due to the difference in births and deaths. And the number of people who profess no religion is expected to shrink, given current birth rates. For example, 62 percent of USA adults predict that religious "nones" will increase as a share of the world's population in the next few decades.

Winter is here: 'Game of Thrones' releases season 7 teaser
The teaser ends with a chilling close-up at the Night's King icy-blue eyeball which is... as I said, very chilling (pun intended). Ever since its release, it has a massive worldwide fan following and has bagged various awards over the last couple of years.

But Islam is growing even faster.

NEW YORK (AP) — In recent years, Christians have had more babies than any other religious group worldwide.

The Christian population is growing more slowly because on average it is older than the Muslim population, Pew found.

The change is affected both by the number of births - Muslims have 2.9 children per woman compared to 2.6 children per Christian woman - and by the number of deaths.

While religiously unaffiliated people now make up 16 per cent of the global population, only an estimated 10% of the world's newborns between 2010 and 2015 were born to religiously unaffiliated mothers.

From 2015 until 2060, Pew expects Christians to increase from 31 percent of the world's population to just 32 percent.
