Activists to use Tax Day to tell Trump: Show us your returns

There is no law requiring Trump to release his tax returns, but his refusal to do so makes him the first president since Gerald Ford to not disclose his returns, according to the Tax History Project.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer says people will be questioning Trump's motives for pushing tax reform as he hides his tax returns.

Surveys released in the final months of the presidential campaign similarly found public interest in Trump's returns, including a September 7 Fox News poll in which 60 percent of respondents who said "yes" when asked: "Do you think Donald Trump is hiding something in his tax returns?"

"I think he just has an obligation to come clean. And the big mystery is why he hasn't".

Trump has promised to cut taxes for middle income workers.

Over the last 40 years, presidents and major-party nominees have released some of their tax returns.

On the legislative side, some Congressional Democrats have said they'd refuse to act on tax reform until they have an opportunity to review the president's returns to determine what impact changes to the tax code would have on his finances. So let's demand proof that our president paid his taxes as well.

"I think the view of most, if not all, in my caucus is very, very dubious of the kind of large-scale military action we saw in Iraq, and dubious of military action generally", Schumer added".
