Here's why these famous landmarks are going dark on Saturday

The Empire State Building and United Nations headquarters in NY joined other iconic buildings and monuments around the world plunging into darkness for sixty minutes on Saturday to mark Earth Hour and draw attention to climate change.

Members of the WWF-Philippines National Youth Council led the Earth Hour Camp, which included various activities and booths on nature conservation and disaster management.

According to the WWF, the United Nations family will join the thousands of homes, offices, skylines and monuments that will go dark on Earth Hour's tenth anniversary to put the spotlight on the issues facing the planet, and to inspire millions across the world to live more sustainably.

"Climate change is visible proof that our actions can have a ripple effect beyond physical borders".

WWF-AAPSO will also be campaigning throughout Assam in schools and colleges, organisations, corporate and institutes to encourage switching off of lights and promote usage of solar energy.
